A recent mini-yard sale at Lattingtown Christian Fellowship blessed us with $197. Thank you LCF for hosting the community yard sale.

62 UMCOR Health Kits being delivered to Annual conference next week!

If you have time, there are jobs for everyone: weeding, trimming, landscaping, painting, spring cleaning, etc.- the church needs a little TLC. Here is a list of things that you can pick from and may want to tackle. Contact Art.

Building God’s Kingdom Together

  1. Church front doors
    • Paint inside of doors – any white paint will do.
    • Paint outside of doors – green paint in fellowship room closet
  2. Church back door
    • Paint inside of door – any white paint will do.
    • Paint outside of door – please use exterior white paint
  3. Power wash
    • Front of church
    • West side of church
  4. Clean gutters – church front porch
  5. Clean various stains on chancel carpet
  6. Paint front porch- gray
  7. Big project – remove ac unit and close-in hole- sheetrock, spackle, paint interior; white siding and molding or white pvc panel and molding on exterior
  8. Clean sanctuary light fixtures
  9. Clean rust off of inside of church sign and paint if necessary
  10. Cut down dead tree at street on Northrip property
  11. Kids project- pick up sticks and branches on church, parsonage and Northrip properties. Throw in brush line around properties
  12. Weed around AC units located behind the church

Summer Sleepover–  We again invite all K-6th graders to join us for a summer sleepover church camp.  It will be held in August.  Let us know if your kids are interested.

Youth United will be publishing it’s summer schedule in the coming weeks.  We have a fun filled summer of activities planned.  Hope you can join us.

Annual Conference– Pastor Jody will be away June 7 – 10 attending Annual Conference.  Ed Mackey Jr. will represent our church as a lay delegate.  On Sunday June 11, PJ will report on Annual Conference.

New ministry opportunity:

PJ is planning a new ministry project called, a desert garden, a garden to provide fresh food for low income communities.  Speak with him if you’d like to be part of this new project.

Furnace Donations: We recently needed to have the church furnace replaced.  Our new furnace is up and running and we are asking folks to make a one time donation to help offset this expense (over $3,000).  You can bring donations, mail them, or make them online at http://www.mm-umc.com using the “donate” button.  Just mark the donation “furnace”.  Thanks in advance for your support on this.

The demolition required due to Winter Storm Stella’s water damage to the upstairs space at church is underway.

_

Roast Beef Dinner– May 6th.  Mark your calendars and get your tickets today!!!  We would also love it if you could help out by working at the dinner.  Please let us know if you’re able to be part of the team and how you’d like to help.

Youth United will be meeting on April 23th.  We will be gathering in Newburgh to participate in the Walk for Housing sponsored by Habitat for Humanity.  See Pastor Jody if you plan to take part.

Recent Women of Faith2016 Secret Sister Reveal gathering.

Women of Faith will be doing their Secret Sister ministry again for the first six months of 2017. Sunday January 29 is the last day to sign up. Use the sign-up sheet in the foyer at church or call or email Ruthanne. Click secret-sisters-guidelines for details as to what the Secret Sister ministry is all about.

Please donate any or all of the items below so that we can assemble Health Kits that will provide basic necessities to people who have been forced to leave their homes due to natural disaster or human conflict. Any monetary donations will be used to purchase much needed items for the kits.

  • 1 hand towel
    • 15 x 25 inches to 17 x 27 inches, Kitchen, cleaning, and microfiber towels not acceptable
  • 1 washcloth
  • 1 comb
    • Comb needs to be sturdy and longer than 6 inches. No pocket combs or picks
  • 1 metal nail file or nail clippers. No emery boards, please.
  • 1 bath-size soap
    • 3 oz. and larger sizes only. No Ivory or Jergens soap due to moisture content.
  • 1 toothbrush
    • Adult size. Do not remove from original packaging.
  • 6 adhesive bandages
    • ¾ inch to 1 inch-size. (Common household Band-Aids)
  • 1 plastic bag
    • One-gallon size sealable bag only.

$1.00 to purchase toothpaste (UMCOR is now purchasing toothpaste in bulk to be added to health kits before shipping to ensure that the product does not expire before it is sent.)

Important Notes

  • All items must be new.
  • Do not wash any of the items as they will be considered used.
  • Add $1 for each kit to help cover cost of shipping to area in need
